FLATBED Dimensions
- Flatbed trailers are normally 48 feet in length but can sometimes have some overhang and still be considered a legal load.
- The max width allowed in the US as well as Canada is 8 feet, 6 inches. If a load is wider than those dimensions, special permits are needed.
- In most of the US, the max height allowed is 13 feet, 6 inches. With the height of the trailer itself, that only leaves 8 feet and 6 inches of height space to work with.
- Special permits are required if the weight of the tractor, trailer, and load exceed 80,000 lbs.
STEP DECK Dimensions
- Step Deck trailers are normally 48 feet in total length. 37 of those feet are the lower deck while 11 feet account for the upper deck.
- The max width allowed in the US, as well as Canada, is 8 feet, 6 inches. If a load is wider than those dimensions, special permits are needed.
- In most of the US, the max height allowed is 13 feet, 6 inches. With the height of the trailer itself, that only leaves 10 feet of height space to work with.

DOUBLE DROP Dimensions
- Double Drop Deck trailers are normally 48 feet in total length. 28 of those feet are part of the bottom well which the rest is accounted for on the front and rear decks.
